Aamir Khan On Paani Foundation: “We will be going digital route, marking a crucial step towards our goal”
Paani Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao in 2016, aims to tackle the issue of drought and water scarcity in Maharashtra through watershed management and groundwater recharge. The foundation recently celebrated its seventh anniversary by hosting the Satyamev Jayate Farmer Cup 2023 Awards Ceremony in Pune, where Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao, and Satyajit Bhatkal, CEO of Paani Foundation, were present.

At the event, Aamir Khan revealed his future plans for the foundation, which include a digital transformation of the annual competition that rewards the best performing villages in terms of water conservation and group farming. He said, “We have reached this stage with all our efforts. The next step that we have planned for this year is to use technology to conduct the competition digitally, which will be a learning experience for us all. If this is successful, we will also implement group farming this year. Our goal is to involve every region with us and encourage them to do group farming in the next two years. We are happy that we have more than 20,000 members who are actively doing group farming and we promise to increase this number and continue our work.”
The Satyamev Jayate Farmer Cup Awards ceremony, which took place at Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium, Pune, also featured impressive performances and a lamp lighting ceremony with Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao, Satyajit Bhatkal, and Dr. Avinash Pol. Dr. Pol highlighted the importance of partnerships, setting the mood for the event.
Paani Foundation, which has been doing remarkable work in drought prevention and watershed management across Maharashtra, has a vision to expand its impact through digital initiatives.
