Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana has an interesting update! Namit Malhotra is leveraging his extensive global experience to create a true spectacle with Ramayana, according to insider sources.
The ambitious project, with a staggering budget of USD 100 million (approximately Rs. 835 crores) for Part One alone, aims to captivate audiences with its grandeur. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Ramayana is not just a film but an emotion and the makers are leaving no stone unturned to make it a global spectacle.”
The source further added, “The USD 100 Million [Rs. 835 crores] budget is just for Ramayana: Part One. He plans to expand this further as the franchise grows. The idea is to take the audience on a visual treat with Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram.”
With Rs 855 Crore Budget, Ramayana To Break The Record Of Ranbir’s Brahmastra?
The source revealed that the vision is to immerse viewers in a visual extravaganza, with Ranbir Kapoor portraying the iconic role of Lord Ram. Kapoor, known for his 2022 release Brahmastra, made on a budget of Rs. 450 crores, is now poised to surpass his own record and establish new benchmarks for Hindi cinema with Ramayana.
The film’s budget, translated into Indian Rupees, amounts to approximately Rs. 835 crores, reflecting the monumental investment required for its creation.
Highlighting the extensive post-production work involved, spanning 600 days, the source emphasised the dedication to crafting original and captivating visuals.
The goal is not only to push the boundaries of Indian cinema but also to elevate it to a global standard, positioning it on the international stage.
“In INR terms, the budget of Ramayana is close to Rs 835 crores. The film requires 600 days of post-production work, which in itself speaks volumes about the investment required to create some of the most original visuals on the spectacle. The idea is to take Indian Cinema at a global level,” said the source.
In addition to Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal of Lord Ram, Ramayana features KGF star Sai Pallavi as Sita and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman.
Case Filed Against Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana
While the budget of Ramayna is now making headlines, the film has also been in the news for its legal dispute. According to a recent report from Money Control, the primary production company, Allu Mantena Media Ventures LLP, is embroiled in a legal battle with Prime Focus Technologies Limited.
The disagreement revolves around the title Project Ramayana. Negotiations for intellectual property rights began in April 2024 but reportedly stalled due to incomplete payments needed to finalize the agreement.
In response, Allu Mantena Media Ventures LLP claims ownership of the Project Ramayana rights. They assert that any use or exploitation of the script or material by Prime Focus Technologies Limited would constitute copyright infringement. The production house is prepared to take legal action to protect its rights.
The statement reads, “Allu Mantena Media Ventures LLP claims that the rights to Project Ramayana continue to belong to them. Any use or exploitation of the script or material by Prime Focus Technologies Limited or any affiliated entities would constitute an infringement of their copyright. The notice also states that Prime Focus Technologies Limited has no right, title, or interest in the Project Ramayana material. The production company has expressed its intention to take legal action to protect its rights if necessary.”
