Diljit Dosanjh REVEALS Why He Chose Shahid Kapoor, Kareena & Alia Bhatt’s Udta Punjab For His Bollywood Debut: ‘Because It Was About…’
Udta Punjab celebrated its 8th anniversary on June 17, 2024. Featuring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, and Shahid Kapoor, and introducing Diljit Dosanjh to Bollywood, the movie established itself as a gripping crime thriller.
Interestingly, Udta Punjab marked Diljit Dosanjh’s breakthrough into Bollywood. The actor fondly recalled how he secured the role, crediting it to his strong belief and determination. According to him, landing this role was pure manifestation.
Diljit Dosanjh On Landing A Role In Udta Punjab
Discussing his journey into Udta Punjab, Diljit disclosed an intriguing anecdote during a recent conversation with Sucharita Tyagi. He highlighted director Abhishek Chaubey’s intention to create a mainstream film rather than a purely commercial venture, despite the star-studded ensemble.
Dosanjh explained how he stumbled upon a post about Udta Punjab at home after a wedding gig. Intrigued by the film’s focus on Punjab and noticing the star-studded cast coming together, he decided to pursue a role. Shortly after, Dosanjh received a crucial call from the filmmakers, leading to a successful audition and landing the role in the movie. So, it was all because the film was about Punjab.
Diljit’s Work Front
Turning to his current projects, Dosanjh recently made waves with his debut musical performance on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show, garnering widespread acclaim. His latest cinematic outing in Imtiaz Ali’s Amar Singh Chamkila further solidified his reputation as a versatile talent.
Currently, Dosanjh is immersed in promoting his upcoming film Jatt and Juliet 3 and simultaneously working on his highly anticipated album, Legacy.
Additionally, fans eagerly await his appearance alongside Arjun Kapoor and Varun Dhawan in Boney Kapoor and Anees Bazmee’s much-awaited sequel, No Entry 2.
