Rautu Ka Raaz: Writer Pravesh Bhardwaj ACCUSES Former Friend & Producer Anand Surapur Of Reusing His Script In Nawazuddin Starrer

Jun 21, 2024

The upcoming film Rautu Ka Raaz has sparked a controversy over its writing credits. Featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the lead role, the film is directed by Anand Surapur, who has a history with a former collaborator now claiming foul play.

The film had its grand premiere at the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) last year, where it received a warm reception. Now, it’s set for an OTT release on ZEE5.

However, the excitement surrounding the film’s release is shadowed by accusations from a writer who claims the screenplay is a recycled version of a script he originally penned for Surapur.

Writer Pravesh Bhardwaj Accuses Anand Surapur of Reusing His Script

Writer Pravesh Bhardwaj, once friends with Surapur, alleges that the plot of Rautu Ka Raaz closely mirrors a screenplay he wrote titled Love Is Blind.

“I had written a screenplay for Anand Surapur called Love Is Blind, based on his idea about a police investigation of a murder in a blind school in Dadar,” the writer explained. “From the looks of it, the same script has been recycled and taken to Garhwal.”

Despite feeling cheated, Pravesh expressed mixed emotions, acknowledging Surapur’s perseverance through difficult times. “Although I am feeling cheated and angry, a part of my brain is feeling happy that Anand has finally conquered his problems. He has had a tough time from 2008 onwards. Best wishes to Anand and his team and hopefully more will come.”
