Heeramandi actress Richa Chadha is anticipating the arrival of her first child in July. However, she has already set her sights on her next project—a comedy film slated to start filming in October.
The script has been penned by Amitosh Nagpal and promises a humorous narrative set against the backdrop of North India.
According to sources close to the film’s production, Richa Chadha was captivated by the script’s light-hearted concept. Pre-production activities are scheduled for August, with filming commencing in October to capture the essence of North India just before winter sets in.
Richa Chadha On Returning To Work After Maternity Leave
Reflecting on her return to work after maternity leave, Richa Chadha stated, “While everyone’s journey is unique, I am determined not to take an extended break and to fulfil my commitments.”
She drew inspiration from her mother’s ability to balance motherhood and career, emphasizing the importance of a supportive environment and an involved partner.
“In my case, I’m fortunate to have both,” Richa added, expressing admiration for the resilience of everyday Indian women who continue their routines throughout pregnancy.
“I am deeply inspired by their strength and refuse to treat this as a limitation—it’s a natural phase of life,” she affirmed.
Richa Was Last Seen In SLB’s Heeramandi
Richa Chadha took on the role of Lajjo in Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. Lajjo appears in the first two episodes as a lovelorn courtesan. Despite her brief screen time, Richa’s portrayal of Lajjo has earned widespread praise for its depth and emotional impact.
Lajjo is portrayed as a tragic character, battling alcoholism while holding onto dreams of a better future amidst harsh realities. Richa Chadha underwent intensive preparation to bring Lajjo to life, including rehearsals wearing a 10-kg vest for her final dance sequence. Her performance struck a chord with viewers, who found Lajjo’s story both relatable and poignant.
Richa was initially offered a larger role but opted for Lajjo to surprise audiences and challenge herself.
