Kalki 2898 AD: Hindi Morning Shows Of Prabhas, Deepika Padukone Starrer Axed Over KDM Delays; Fans Disappointed!
Today marked the global release of Prabhas‘ much-anticipated film Kalki 2898 AD across multiple languages and formats, including Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and in 2D, 3D, and IMAX.
Despite robust advance bookings, disappointed fans were left stranded as several IMAX theatres failed to screen the Hindi morning shows due to delayed Key Delivery Message (KDM) issuance.
Kalki 2898 AD Faces Morning Show Cancellation In IMAX Theatres
A multiplex official told Bollywood Hungama, “To start the film in a theatre, a KDM (Key Delivery Message) which is like a passkey, needs to be issued by the distributor. Only then the film can be accessed and played for the viewers. Many IMAX theatres didn’t get the KDM for the Hindi version of Kalki 2898 AD. Hence, they couldn’t play the morning show. The exhibitors had no choice but to refund the amount.”
The setback left people frustrated and agitated, having eagerly anticipated the morning screenings. Reports indicated similar issues with the Tamil IMAX show in Chennai, where screenings were also affected by KDM delays. However, the Telugu IMAX screenings proceeded smoothly, benefiting from timely KDM delivery.
Exhibitors Were Recently Informed To Halt IMAX Bookings Of Kalki 2898 AD
Earlier this week, exhibitors were instructed to hold IMAX bookings temporarily, causing confusion among moviegoers. The situation was resolved by Monday evening, with only the 2D version confirmed for IMAX screenings.
Directed by Nag Ashwin and featuring a star-studded cast including Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani, Kalki 2898 AD has generated significant buzz under the banner of Vyjayanthi Movies.
For the unversed, Kalki 2898 AD has opened with positive reviews from critics and audiences. Fans are particularly hailing Amitabh Bachchan for his larger-than-life role in Nag Ashwin’s film.
