Actor Lakshya has made a stunning debut with Karan Johar’s action-packed film Kill, which has been running successfully in theatres since its release on July 5.

Garnering praise for his intense performance, Lakshya has now achieved another milestone by securing the 11th spot on IMDb’s Most Popular Indian Celebrities List. This is a significant leap from his 68th position last week.

The IMDb list, known as ‘Popular Indian Celebrities,’ is a weekly feature showcasing Indian stars trending globally. This includes actors, directors, cinematographers, and writers, and is determined by the preferences of over 200 million fans worldwide.

Lakshya On His Mom’s Reaction To Kill

Lakshya recently shared how his mother reacted to his role in Kill. He mentioned, “She has seen the trailer and teaser, but she still has a little bit of a problem with me doing that level of violence. She probably won’t ever see it. My father will. He’ll love it.”

The violence in Kill, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in September, is notably brutal, bloody, and graphic. The marketing for the Hindi-language film even declares it as “India’s most violent movie ever.”

About Kill & His Role In The Film

In Kill, Lakshya plays an elite Army commando who boards a train to New Delhi to stop his girlfriend, played by Tanya Maniktala, from going through with an arranged marriage. The situation turns extremely violent when he confronts a gang of 40 thieves who have hijacked the train to rob its passengers.

The film features dozens of gory deaths, including slashed throats, crushed skulls, and gutted-out insides. Karan Johar, the film’s producer, described Kill as “blood porn” in a previous interview with Variety.

Written and directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, Kill premiered at TIFF and is set to be released in theatres by Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions on 4th July. This makes it one of the first mainstream Hindi-language movies to partner with a Hollywood studio for a theatrical run in North America and the U.K.

Lakshya is thrilled about his role in Kill, stating, “Kill is a one-of-a-kind film. Nobody has ever attempted to make a film like this before.”
