Thangalaan, the much-anticipated film starring Chiyaan Vikram and Malavika Mohanan, is set to hit theatres on August 15, 2024.
To ramp up excitement for its release, the film’s team has just unveiled its second single, War Song. This track showcases Vikram as a fierce tribal leader, bringing intense energy and drama to the film’s promotional campaign.
GV Prakash Kumar Shares Thangalaan ‘War’ Song
Music composer GV Prakash Kumar took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the new single. He wrote, “Feel the fury of our #Thangalaan and his tribe as they march ahead with #ThangalaanWarSong.”

The song is a powerful blend of traditional and contemporary sounds, with Prakash Kumar and rapper Arivu lending their voices. Arivu also wrote the lyrics for the Tamil version, adding a personal touch to the track.
Netizens have poured praises on the track with the comments showing their excitement. A user called it “super.” Another commented, “Mannsy Song.” Several others jumped into the comment section with words of appreciation.
Earlier, the film released its first single, Minikki Minikki, on July 17, 2024. This folk-style track was described as a “celebration of souls” and featured both Vikram and Parvathy Thiruvothu.
In a recent Q&A session on her X account, actress Malavika Mohanan shared her experience of working on Thangalaan. She admitted feeling “intimidated” while shooting action scenes with Vikram, expressing concerns about looking foolish.
Despite her initial nerves, Mohanan praised Vikram for making her feel comfortable on set and spoke highly of his support and professionalism.
About Thangalaan
Thangalaan is set in the pre-independence era of India and follows a tribal leader’s quest to assist the British Army in extracting gold from village mines. This mission leads to a dramatic clash with a powerful sorceress, setting the stage for epic confrontations.
The film, directed by Pa Ranjith, has faced several delays but is now poised for a grand release on Independence Day. In addition to its Hindi release, Thangalaan will also face competition from films like Double iSmart and Mr Bachchan in Telugu states, despite being dubbed.
