Stree 2 Director Claims He Hasn’t Watched Harry Potter, Says THIS About Ayushmann Khurrana’s Vampire Film Thamba
Stree 2 director Amar Kaushik recently discussed his filmmaking process and upcoming projects in an interview. He mentioned a fun Easter egg in Stree 2, where Aparshakti Khurana’s character wipes a poster of Yami Gautam’s film Bala off a wall.
Amar shared his love for crossovers, enjoying how characters from different films can appear together. “I love crossovers. I enjoy seeing the characters I birthed featuring here and there,” he told Pinkvilla.

While speaking in this Pinkvilla interview, he expressed his fascination with magical universes like Alif Laila and Chandrakanta. Surprisingly, despite working in the fantasy genre, Amar revealed he has never watched Harry Potter even after his team insisted on him.
The director explained that he prefers to create his own magical worlds instead of being influenced by existing ones.

When asked about his future plans, Amar said he hasn’t decided on his next project yet, but he is considering options like Bhediya 2, Stree 3, and another film. He plans to finalise his choice in the coming month, showing how deeply passionate he is about storytelling and script selection.
The interview also touched on a hint in the climax of Stree 2 about a potential new character— a vampire—entering the Maddock Supernatural Universe. It had previously been reported that Amar is working on a vampire film featuring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, titled Thamba. While Amar didn’t reveal too much, he teased that fans might be in for some surprises.
Amar’s excitement about the vampire film was obvious, likening his current creative process to being a kid playing with comic characters. The idea of building this new universe seems to energise him, and fans are eagerly awaiting what’s next.
Though the film was earlier reported to be called Vampires Of Vijay Nagar, the new title Thamba has stirred even more anticipation for what’s to come.
