Ramayana: Yash Undergoes Look Test For Ravana, Will Begin Shooting From December; Sunny Deol As Lord Hanuman Will Join From Summer 2025
The buzz around Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana is high and some or other updates arrive every few days. This epic retelling of the classic tale has already got everyone talking, thanks to its stellar cast, which includes Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sunny Deol, and Sai Pallavi.
Filming began in March 2024, and insiders reveal that Ranbir Kapoor, who plays Lord Ram, has already completed 90 percent of his part.
“He had allotted bulk dates to Nitesh Tiwari and Namit Malhotra to play the part of Lord Ram, and the duo have been extremely professional to wrap up the shoot ahead of schedule,” a source told Pinkvilla.
A Promo Video For Ramayana To Be Dropped Soon
As Ranbir wraps up his role in Ramayana: Part One, he’s gearing up for his next project. Starting in the first week of October, he will dive into Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War.
Meanwhile, Tiwari and his team are busy working with DNEG on a promotional video for Ramayana, which is set to be unveiled soon. They’ve already mapped out the shooting schedule through July 2025.
Yash To Join The Sets As Ravana In December, Sunny Deol Begins In Summer 2025
Yash, who will portray the mighty Ravana, is set to begin his shoot in December 2024. “Yash has undergone several look tests for his character in Ramayana and is all set to start shooting in December 2024. He moves on to the epic after completing a major chunk of his next, the Geethu Mohandas-directed Toxic. He is excited to explore one of the most complex characters from Ramayana,” the source reveals.
Sunny Deol, who will take on the role of Lord Hanuman, will start his part in the summer of 2025, once he’s done with his work on Border 2. “Sunny Deol takes up Ramayana after finishing his work on Border 2. Much like Ranbir, Sunny Deol has also allotted bulk dates to Nitesh Tiwari and Namit Malhotra to shoot for his part in the Ramayana Franchise,” the source adds.
Ramayana Expected To Wrap Up By Aug 2025 & Release In 2026
The team is also deep into the VFX work for Ramayana: Part One. They aim to finish the shoot with all characters by August 2025, with a planned release in 2026. “The team is confident to bring Ramayana on the spectacle in 2026. It’s a labour of love from the team of Ramayana to the audience, and they are leaving no stone unturned to make a film that represents India at a global level,” the source concludes.
