Akshay Kumar Starrer Tirangaa To Be Directed By Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan Known For 83 And 72 Hoorain, To Go On Floors By Dec 2024 – REPORT
Akshay Kumar is gearing up to star in Tirangaa, which is expected to be a highly anticipated film. According to fresh reports, the movie will be directed by Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan, best known for his work on Lahore, 83, and 72 Hoorain. This news has created a buzz, especially since Tirangaa is expected to go on floors by this year’s end.
Earlier rumours suggested that Tirangaa might be a remake of the 1993 film of the same name, which starred Nana Patekar and Raaj Kumar. However, the producers of the film have shot down these speculations.
Narendra Hirawat, one of the producers, clarified this in a statement, saying, “In the last few days, there have been a few media reports stating that we are producing a remake of the film Tirangaa with Shri Akshay Kumar in the lead. We would like to hereby affirm that this news is completely baseless and untrue. Yes, we are indeed producing a film with Shri Akshay Kumar in the lead, but we would like to categorically state that it is NOT a remake of any film. It is a completely new and original script. An official announcement regarding the same will be made soon.”
83 Writer Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan To Direct Akshay Kumar Starrer Tirangaa
The producers, Ashvin Varde, Subhash Kale, and Narendra Hirawat, along with Akshay Kumar, are reportedly thrilled to have Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan on board as director.
A source close to the production revealed to Bollywood Hungama, “The producers of the film – Ashvin Varde, Subhash Kale and Narendra Hirawat – along with Akshay Kumar realised that Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan will be an apt choice to handle a film like this and give it the required commercial treatment. This is how the acclaimed director came on board.”
Given his track record, the choice seems like a perfect fit, as he’s known for delivering impactful films with a strong narrative.
This won’t be the first time Chauhan has been linked with Akshay. The two almost worked together on Gorkha, a project that was announced but later shelved due to technical and factual issues.
Sanjay was also set to direct the space drama Chandamama Door Ke, starring the late Sushant Singh Rajput, but that film didn’t see the light of day either.
Film To Go On Floors By This Year’s End
Not much is known about the plot or Akshay’s role yet in Tirangaa, but the anticipation is high, especially with Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan steering the project. The project is expected to go on floors by December 2024.
Chauhan’s previous films, Lahore and 72 Hoorain, both bagged National Awards, and his involvement in Ranveer Singh’s cricket epic 83 has earned him more recognition in Bollywood.
