Maddock Films DELAYS Mrunal Thakur’s Pooja Meri Jaan To Early 2025, Prioritises Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava – Report

Oct 15, 2024

Maddock Films has made a major scheduling shift, postponing Pooja Meri Jaan to early 2025. Initially set for a November 2024 release, the film will now make way for Vicky Kaushal’s highly anticipated Chhaava

The decision to delay Pooja Meri Jaan is reportedly to avoid competition with other major releases and give both films the spotlight they deserve.

Pooja Meri Jaan, directed by Navjot Gulati, tackles the sensitive issue of stalking. It stars Mrunal Thakur and Huma Qureshi in key roles. On the other hand, Chhaava, directed by Laxman Utekar, is a biopic of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, featuring Vicky Kaushal in the lead.

Both films bring powerful narratives but belong to vastly different genres—one focusing on a contemporary social issue, and the other on a historical figure. Despite their differences, both films hold significant weight in terms of storytelling, which is why the studio decided to give each its own window.

Pooja Meri Jaan Delayed To Early 2025 Due To Packed Release Schedule

A source told Mid-day, “Dinesh Vijan sees Pooja Meri Jaan as a special project, and since it deals with an important issue, he wanted to find the right time to release it.”

With the fourth quarter of 2024 packed with major releases, the competition could be tough. November already has blockbusters like Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, both expected to dominate the box office. December will bring Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava, followed by Varun Dhawan’s Baby John during Christmas.

“The team wants to give Chhaava the attention it deserves. Releasing Pooja Meri Jaan during the same period could dilute its impact, especially given the heavy competition,” said the source.

The decision to push the release allows Pooja Meri Jaan to find its own space in the early months of 2025. This move is intended to ensure that the film’s important message isn’t overshadowed by bigger, mainstream releases.

While Chhaava stays on track for a December 2024 release, Pooja Meri Jaan is now set to hit cinemas in 2025. Fans of both Mrunal Thakur and Vicky Kaushal can rest assured that these films will get the spotlight they need to succeed.

With Maddock Films strategically spacing out the releases, both projects are expected to gain a better reception at the box office and among critics.

The delay may be a disappointment for fans eager to see Pooja Meri Jaan, but the extra time could ultimately help the film make a bigger impact.
